First game of the season is this Saturday at 6pm.  I always go out and take photos on home game days and last year I imposed my own theme of capturing super tailgaters.  I’m open to suggestions for my subject matter at home games this year.   What do you think?

Budapest leftover.  Found this one going through my (too many) photos late, late, LATE last night. (Ok, early, early, EARLY this morning). I’m sure I’ll find a few more strays before it’s all said and done.

Somewhere in rural Oklahoma, a sunflower field is in full bloom. And little girls, like fairies released from a corked bottle, frolic amongst the showy, smiling plates of happiness.

Mom pointed south and he ran north.  She pointed west and he ran east. He ran and jumped in my car.
Twice.
And let me tell you something, when I say he ran, I mean he RAN.  He ran and he laughed and he giggled and boy! was it ever fun.
For him, at least.
Mom: “He’s almost two.  My other one is 14.  It’s been a long time…”
Me: “Yeah.  That’s long enough to forget.”

As my daughter begins her second year of band, here is my ode to middle school choir, orchestra and band directors who do completely amazing things to mold unwieldy aspiring musicians into performance-worthy collectives.

"Yeah. Get enough sleep."

I saw those flowing black pants from a mile away and knew I wanted to approach her.  I hit the jackpot with that fantastic smile, which never left her face.

My son moved back to college yesterday and Norman kids go back to school tomorrow.  Summer is winding down; It always makes me a bit melancholic.

The music echoed throughout the streets but it took me a bit to find him given that walking around Venice means you feel like a rat in a maze all. the. time.  He played while I asked him if I could take his photo, he played while we looked for money to toss in his case, he played while I dug out my other camera, he played while I changed lenses between cameras, he played while I composed and took my (several) shots.
"Wow.  You played for a long time there.  I was slow getting my act together."
"I exercise with this every day."
I held up my camera:  ”Me too.”

I’m home now, but I have a few more Europe pictures to share with you until the film shots arrive.  I got this one in Budapest. They were standing guard outside the House of Parliament, which was a fantastic building.  (And quite modern—it was completed just 110 years old.)

"Is it OK if I take your photo?"
"Thanks for asking. That way I won’t make a rude face."

She was so stunning and had such an aura about her I was almost afraid to approach her. Turns out she was a quite a nice woman and completely open to me taking her photo.
